Busch-Jaeger Simplifies Smart-Home Retrofitting with Matter-over-Thread

Busch-Jaeger has unveiled the System Access Point 3.0, a new control hub for its Busch-free@home smart-home system. It is designed to simplify retrofitting in existing buildings and to integrate devices using the open Matter-over-Thread standard.

Two Variants for New Builds and Retrofits

The System Access Point 3.0 comes in two versions: one with a 2-wire bus plus wireless support, and a wireless-only variant for retrofitting. According to the manufacturer, the wireless version supports up to 150 devices. Configuration is done either via the browser or the Busch-free@home Next app.

Matter, Thread and Eve

Via an optional Thread USB stick, the device takes on the role of a Thread Border Router. This allows Matter-over-Thread devices as well as products from Eve to be integrated, bringing components from different manufacturers together under a single interface.

Power and Sustainability

Power is supplied via USB-C. Busch-Jaeger also cites reduced energy consumption and a housing made of recycled plastic as innovations in this third generation.
