Athom, an LG subsidiary, now enables centralized firmware updates on its Homey hubs: users can update the firmware of Matter, Zigbee and Z-Wave devices directly through Homey – without separate manufacturer apps or additional hubs.
Updates From a Single Place
The updates are triggered via the Homey mobile app or the web application. Homey handles the download, the transfer to the respective device and displays the progress. Zigbee and Z-Wave updates are distributed through the manufacturer apps in the Homey App Store, while the Matter firmware is sourced directly from the Connectivity Standards Alliance’s Distributed Compliance Ledger.
These Brands Are On Board at Launch
At launch, the feature supports devices from numerous manufacturers, including Ikea, Aeotec, Innr, Niko, Inovelli, Zooz, Frient, ThirdReality, EcoDim, HeatIt, Namron, Amina, CTM Lyng and Nous. More brands are expected to follow.
Compatible Devices and Requirements
The centralized update management works with Homey Cloud, Homey Pro (2023 to 2026 models), Homey Pro mini and the Homey Self-Hosted Server. It requires at least version 13.2.0 on Homey Pro or the Self-Hosted Server and version 9.10.0 of the Homey mobile app.
