Nvidia has posted another record quarter: in the second quarter of fiscal 2027, the chip company generated $96.2 billion in revenue – up 106 percent year over year. The growth is driven almost entirely by the AI data-center business.
Data centers dominate
The data-center segment alone contributed $89.0 billion – up 117 percent year over year and around 92 percent of total revenue. The driver is the ramp of Blackwell Ultra infrastructure. Gross margin was 75 percent, and earnings per share came to $2.46 (GAAP).
An even higher outlook
For the current third quarter, Nvidia guides to $108.0 billion in revenue – another jump of nearly $12 billion. The figures show how heavily the entire AI boom rests on Nvidia’s hardware.
The flip side of dominance
At the same time, an entire industry’s dependence on a single supplier keeps growing. More and more large customers – from OpenAI to the hyperscalers – are therefore developing their own chips to cut costs and dependence.
