While the new AI features in iOS 27 are generally available to users for free, paying iCloud+ customers receive noticeable extra benefits for Apple Intelligence. These include more generous allowances for compute-heavy cloud services as well as exclusive monitoring features for the smart home.
Higher Limits for Server-Based Image Generation
In general, Apple Intelligence features are available to all users. However, Apple points out that certain tasks—such as generating images—require powerful server models in the data center. To manage server load, a daily usage cap applies to standard tier operations.
Users on a paid iCloud+ subscription or an Apple One bundle enjoy significantly more headroom for these requests in iOS 27. According to an official statement from the company, enhanced access is available for “most iCloud+ plans.” Reports suggest that the entry-level $0.99/month storage tier may be excluded from these bonuses; however, specific confirmation of the tier thresholds by Apple is still pending.
New AI Features for HomeKit Secure Video

Verdict: Who Is the Subscription Worth It For?
For occasional text edits or on-device system features, the free tier of Apple Intelligence remains completely sufficient. However, those who regularly use image generation or manage security cameras within Apple’s ecosystem will hit technical limits much faster without an upgrade. Separate from the system update, Apple also began rolling out bundled access to Apple TV and Apple Arcade to iCloud+ subscriptions in many regions outside the US this week.
Users should check whether their existing storage plan already qualifies for the expanded allowances or whether they even run into the daily caps before upgrading to a more expensive tier.
