Samsung has officially begun rolling out the stable version of One UI 9 based on Android 17. The operating system upgrade is now available for the Galaxy S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra, following around four months of beta testing.
One UI 9 made its debut back in July on the foldable Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Flip 8 smartphones. Now, the new software version is hitting the manufacturer’s standard flagship devices. The update is rolling out gradually to eligible Galaxy smartphones and tablets.
Which Devices Are Getting One UI 9
According to notes from the manufacturer regarding new privacy features, Android 17 is planned for numerous older device lineups alongside the current S26 generation. A preliminary overview confirms support for model lines including:
- Galaxy S Series: Galaxy S26 and S26 Ultra, as well as Galaxy S25 and S25 FE, Galaxy S24 and S24 FE, and Galaxy S23 and S23 FE
- Galaxy Z Series: Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, Galaxy Fold 6, Galaxy Flip 6, as well as Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5
- Galaxy Tab Series: Galaxy Tab S11 and Tab S11 Ultra, Galaxy Tab S10 Plus and Tab S10 Ultra, as well as the Galaxy Tab S9, Tab S9 Plus, and Tab S9 Ultra lineup

New Camera and AI Features
One UI 9 brings a number of functional overhauls. A new addition to video recording is the “My FanCam” feature, which allows users to automatically track a selected subject in a video after recording and keep it centered in the frame. The “Now Brief” overview gains editable and generative information cards. In addition, Samsung is integrating warranty and manufacturer support information (“Warranty and Care”) directly into the main system settings menu.
The proprietary tools under the Galaxy AI umbrella are also being expanded. These include the context-aware assistant feature “Now Nudge”, a revamped “Creative Studio”, enhancements to the real-time translation tool (“Interpreter”), as well as improved tools for document scanning and the voice recorder.
Focus on Privacy and Fraud Protection
On the security front, Samsung is adding “Privacy Alerts” and a comprehensive “Security Brief” overview to the operating system. Built-in “Scam Detection” is also included to make suspicious activity noticeable more quickly.
What Users Should Do Now
Since Samsung rolls out updates in phases, it may take several days before the update becomes available on devices depending on the region or carrier. Backing up personal data and ensuring sufficient free storage space on the device is recommended prior to installation.
