UniFi Network 10.6.106 Brings STR-MLO Mesh to All Wi-Fi 7 Access Points

Ubiquiti has released UniFi Network 10.6.106, an update that noticeably upgrades the mesh capabilities of every tri-band access point in its Wi-Fi 7 line-up: for the first time, STR-MLO (Simultaneous Transmit and Receive Multi-Link Operation) is available for the wireless backhaul links between devices.

What STR-MLO changes in a mesh

Until now, UniFi used only eMLSR-MLO for the radio link between access points, which delivered little extra throughput in real-world use. STR-MLO, by contrast, transmits and receives simultaneously across multiple bands – typically 5 and 6 GHz. That raises the bandwidth and reliability of the backhaul and lowers latency, all without running a network cable.

Requirements and availability

According to the changelog, the feature requires access-point firmware 8.8 or newer and is rolling out in stages, so it may not be visible to every user immediately. Ubiquiti first launched the technology in the US in spring; the release for all tri-band Wi-Fi 7 access points followed in September 2026. Version 10.6.106 also fixes several bugs, including incorrect IP addresses shown for MLO clients and a broadcast failure on the UDR7 and UDR-5G.

Why it matters

For home networks and smaller deployments without end-to-end cabling, a stable wireless backhaul is often the real bottleneck. STR-MLO closes exactly the gap that has shadowed Wi-Fi 7 since launch – making UniFi mesh setups considerably more practical for everyday use.
