The Fedora-based Linux for gaming, Bazzite, has been released in version 44 – the biggest update in the project’s history, it says. At its core is a gaming stack aligned with SteamOS.
New gaming stack
SteamOS-aligned tools replace the previous setup: InputPlumber handles controllers, emulation and remapping, the SteamOS-Manager takes care of session switching and power draw (TDP), PowerStation manages power on hardware without full SteamOS support, and OpenGamepadUI adds further controls. The base is Fedora 44 with Linux kernel 7.2 and Mesa 26.2.1.
Updates via gamepad
New is the Bazzite Updater – a graphical tool for system updates including changelogs. It can be added directly to Steam Game Mode and controlled entirely with a gamepad, so you no longer need to switch to the desktop to manage updates. The Deck images now run on the same base as the other Bazzite editions.
