Accessory maker Twelve South is expanding its lineup with the AirFly Drive, a new solution designed for vehicles. The device transforms an existing wired Apple CarPlay setup into a wireless system. Drivers whose cars currently support smartphone integration only via a physical cable now have an option to switch to wireless convenience.
Expanding the Familiar AirFly Lineup to the Car
Twelve South adds this new release to its well-established AirFly series. While previous models in the lineup were primarily built to transmit audio signals wirelessly, the AirFly Drive specifically targets in-car use. The adapter connects directly to the vehicle’s port and handles communication between the infotainment system and the smartphone entirely over the air.
In many cars, Apple’s smartphone integration still relies on a wired plug-in connection from the factory. Using this adapter eliminates the need to manually connect your phone every time you start driving.
Wireless Retrofitting Instead of Expensive Upgrades
For car owners, such an adapter provides a straightforward way to retrofit modern convenience without replacing the vehicle’s built-in infotainment head unit. Converting wired CarPlay into a wireless setup is handled entirely by the accessory.
The AirFly Drive is priced at 50 euros and is scheduled to be available starting October 1 via Amazon.de as well as through Twelve South’s EU website. Drivers tired of dealing with messy cockpit cables will soon have an official retrofitting option.
