Snap is bringing its standalone consumer AR glasses Specs to market in fall 2026 – for a hefty 2,195 US dollars. On 16 September the company plans to reveal more details.
What the glasses can do
Unlike mere display attachments, Specs are standalone AR glasses. They run on two Snapdragon processors and last up to four hours at a stretch, or 20 hours in total with the charging case. There are two sizes – 47 mm (132 g) and 52 mm (136 g). That makes them heavier than Meta’s Ray-Bans but far lighter than Apple’s Vision Pro.
Price and market
At 2,195 US dollars, Specs sits well above most smart glasses – Meta’s Ray-Bans start at around 350 dollars – but below Apple’s Vision Pro (from 3,500 dollars). The glasses can be pre-ordered with a 200-dollar deposit; they ship in the fall in the US, UK and France. Snap is aiming first at enthusiasts, developers and studios. CEO Evan Spiegel is betting on a “post-smartphone” future – after the June reveal, Snap’s stock initially dropped.
