Framework Laptop 12: Repairable Notebook Gets Intel Core Series 3

Framework is upgrading its highly repairable Laptop 12 with Intel’s new Core Series 3 processors (“Wildcat Lake”). The new mainboard has been available to pre-order since 18 August – underscoring Framework’s aim to build durable rather than disposable notebooks.

Repairable and modular

The Laptop 12 is a convertible with a touchscreen, 360-degree hinge and stylus support. Characteristic are its swappable ports (Expansion Cards) as well as replaceable memory and storage. Add to that MIL-STD-810 rugged construction. Anyone wanting to upgrade swaps individual components rather than the whole device.

New: Core Series 3

The biggest update is the new Core Series 3 mainboard (“Wildcat Lake”). Configurations go up to the Core 7 350, paired with up to 64 GB of LPDDR5-6400 memory and up to 2 TB of storage. The mainboard has been available to pre-order since 18 August.

Sustainability as a selling point

Framework’s approach – replacing and upgrading parts individually instead of buying new – strikes a chord with a growing audience that values longevity and repairability. The 2026 lineup also includes a Laptop 13 Pro with a CNC-milled aluminium chassis.
