Synology has unveiled the RS11626xs+, a new enterprise RackStation aimed at organizations wrestling with fast-growing, petabyte-scale data. The 3U system is built for mission-critical environments that need high capacity and resilience.
20 bays in a 3U chassis
The unit pairs 16 bays for 3.5-inch/2.5-inch drives with four dedicated 2.5-inch SSD slots, plus two internal M.2 NVMe slots that run DiskStation Manager in RAID-1. With up to eight RX1222sas expansion units, capacity scales non-disruptively to as many as 116 bays and more than 2.6 petabytes of raw storage.
Performance and networking
Synology quotes up to 895,000/234,000 IOPS for random 4K access and more than 10,500/8,200 MB/s of sequential throughput. Two 10-Gigabit ports with link aggregation are standard, and optional 10/25GbE SFP+/SFP28 or Fibre Channel adapters can be added. Storage Efficiency features in DSM 7.4 are said to let organizations store up to 3.5x more data in the same footprint.
Availability
The RS11626xs+ is available now through Synology’s global network of partners and resellers. The company has not published a list price; given the target audience, it will likely land in the five-figure range depending on configuration. For homelab users it is less a buy than a marker of the storage density Synology is currently setting as the benchmark.
