Harvey Raises $550 Million, Legal-AI Startup Now Valued at $15.5 Billion

US legal-AI startup Harvey has closed a new $550 million funding round that values the company at $15.5 billion – nearly doubling its worth in just nine months.

Who is investing

Announced on September 9, 2026, the round is co-led by the new investment firm Diffusion and by Lightspeed Venture Partners. Sapphire Ventures and Whale Rock join as new backers, alongside existing investors such as Sequoia, Kleiner Perkins, Andreessen Horowitz, Coatue and Goldman Sachs Alternatives. Harvey has now raised more than $1.55 billion since 2023; as recently as March 2026 the company was valued at $11 billion.

Why the valuation keeps climbing

Harvey sells AI assistants to law firms and corporate legal departments. The company says roughly 80 percent of the 100 largest US law firms use its software, along with several Fortune 10 in-house legal teams. Industry reports put its annual recurring revenue (ARR) above $400 million, though Harvey has not officially confirmed that figure. The startup recently unveiled “Tenet,” its first in-house AI model.

What it means for the market

The deal underlines how much capital is flowing into specialized, industry-specific AI applications. As general-purpose chatbots fight for attention, investors are increasingly favoring vendors with a clear domain focus and deep-pocketed customers – and the legal market has become one of the most lucrative proving grounds.
