Cloudflare has unveiled Kitesurf, a browser built not for humans but for AI agents. It runs entirely on Cloudflare’s Workers platform and is far more frugal than Chromium.
For agents, not humans
A browser for AI agents needs no tabs, themes or extensions – but it does need control over context windows, performance, token costs and scalability. For typical tasks like screenshots and extracting HTML, Cloudflare says Kitesurf uses noticeably less CPU and memory than the Chromium browser.
Built from open-source and Rust components
Kitesurf is assembled from several open components: the modular rendering engine Blitz, Firefox’s CSS parser Stylo and the JavaScript engine Boa, written in Rust. All network access goes through a single component (SandboxOutbound), which increases isolation. The browser is currently free to use in beta via Cloudflare’s “Browser Run”.
