Miele G8 Diamond: Dishwasher With Camera and AI Makes Its World Debut at IFA 2026

At IFA 2026 in Berlin, Miele has unveiled the G8 Diamond dishwasher – a machine that uses a built-in camera and artificial intelligence to see what is inside and how full it is, then selects the right cycle by itself.

A camera that looks inside

The centrepiece is a technology Miele calls „AutoVision“: according to the maker, an integrated camera paired with image processing and AI recognition works out how full the machine is and tells different types of crockery apart. On that basis the dishwasher adapts the cycle and switches on suitable programme extras – the aim being to take the decision about the correct programme off the user’s hands.

Drying and dosing run on their own

Backing it up is the new „ExcellentDry“ hot-air system, which Miele says should better dry even hard-to-dry plastic items. You choose once between three drying levels, after which the setting applies automatically. Detergent is handled by „AutoDos“ with an integrated PowerDisk. The app also lets you set start conditions – for instance, only once a certain load level is reached, or not before a fixed time.

Miele did not name a price in Berlin. The G8 Diamond is due to reach Germany, Austria and Switzerland in April 2027. Whether the camera-driven automation can reliably tell glass, plastic and porcelain apart in daily use will only become clear in hands-on testing.
