The popular open-source e-book manager Calibre has been released in version 9.14. New is an AI-powered cover generator with multiple styles – along with Anthropic and Grok backends and security fixes for the Content Server.
AI generates book covers
The new cover generator automatically creates book covers in various styles. As AI backends, Anthropic (Claude) and Grok are now available alongside existing options. For anyone maintaining large e-book collections, it is a convenient way to replace missing or unattractive covers.
Security in the Content Server
Version 9.14 also patches security flaws in the Content Server – the component that lets you serve your library over the network or remotely. An update is therefore especially worthwhile for anyone actively using the Content Server.
Why Calibre stays relevant
Calibre has been the standard tool for years to manage, convert and sync e-books across devices – open source and free. Its steady development, including optional AI features, keeps the program current.
