Mozilla is speeding up Firefox development: from September 2026, the browser will no longer be released monthly but every two weeks. Firefox 154, on 18 August 2026, is therefore the last regular monthly update before the new cadence begins.
Firefox 155, on 1 September 2026, kicks things off as the first version on the two-week schedule. For users this means new features and – above all – security and bug fixes will reach them faster, because they no longer have to wait for the next monthly release.
What it means for users
Shorter release intervals are a familiar trend among browsers, not least to keep pace with the fast cadence of the competition. Individual updates become smaller as a result but arrive more often. For most users, little changes day to day, since Firefox updates automatically by default. In managed environments, however, administrators should account for the new cycle in their update processes.
