Online graphics platform Canva is set to bring together its creative tools under a unified interface called Canva ProSuite. For users of the popular design and photo editing suite Affinity, there is good news: Even with the new update to version 3.3, the software’s core features remain free to use.
More tools and batch processing in Affinity 3.3
The update to version 3.3 introduces functional enhancements for photographers and graphic designers. Previously, the application could only develop RAW files—uncompressed raw data from digital cameras—individually. The new version introduces batch processing: users can import multiple images simultaneously and apply preset image styles across entire photo series at once. In addition, automated tools help handle tricky lighting conditions or camera shake.
For designers, the update integrates a Blend tool to create smooth transitions between vector graphics and objects along curves. Also new are simplified masking tools, 3D model support, and a dedicated astrophotography workspace. Repetitive workflows can be automated via a scripting feature. Furthermore, a free integration with the AI language model Claude is included, enabling users to execute commands via natural language.
ProSuite integration and pricing
Alongside Affinity, the new Canva ProSuite connects 2D animation tool Cavalry, data visualization platform Flourish, and generative AI tool Leonardo with Canva’s primary application. Going forward, teams can share templates more flexibly: while designers might prepare animations in Cavalry, text and colors can later be edited directly in Canva without breaking the complex animation structure. When it comes to data exchange, the ecosystem is also opening up to third-party software, offering interfaces for Adobe InDesign, raw converter Capture One, and video editing software DaVinci Resolve.
The software updates are available immediately for macOS and Windows. The pricing structure is as follows:
- Canva Free: Free basic access including Affinity (without AI features), 5 GB of cloud storage, as well as templates and the basic editor.
- Canva Pro: 12 euros per month or 110 euros annually for individual users. Includes 100 GB of storage and AI tools across Canva and Affinity, such as background removal and generative fill.
- Canva Business: 17 euros per user per month (or 170 euros annually) with team management, 500 GB of storage, and access to Flourish.
What users should keep in mind
Users who rely on Affinity for photo editing or vector graphics can install the version 3.3 update directly on Windows or macOS. For everyday tasks without generative AI features, no subscription fees apply. However, those wanting to use AI-assisted tools like background cutout or generative fill will need a paid Canva Pro subscription going forward.
