At IFA 2026 in Berlin, French health-tech maker Withings unveiled StethO Sense on 4 September: an AI-powered analysis of heart and lung sounds that runs on the multisensor BeamO device and is meant to return results within seconds.
What BeamO does
BeamO is a compact, FDA-cleared device that combines a clinical-grade thermometer, a 1-lead ECG and a digital stethoscope in a single housing. StethO Sense adds interpretation of the recorded heart and breathing sounds. Heart tones are captured at four standard positions, while lung sounds use six positions for children under twelve and up to eight positions from age twelve upwards.
Two AI partners behind the scenes
For the analysis, Withings relies on two specialised systems: eMurmur Heart AI flags abnormal heart murmurs, while StethoMe translates breathing sounds into a Breathing Index from 0 to 100. “Hearts don’t always tell us when something is wrong,” says product manager Livia Robic, adding that StethO Sense supplies extra data to bring to a doctor. The tool explicitly does not replace a diagnosis.
Price and availability
BeamO still costs around 249.95 euros. StethO Sense arrives on 1 October 2026, but only through the Withings+ subscription at 9.95 euros per month or 99.50 euros per year. New buyers and already registered owners each receive one free month. With that, home auscultation, long the domain of the clinic, edges a little further into the living room.
