Dyson CameraJet: The Company’s First Toothbrush Packs an AI Camera and a Water Jet

Dyson is entering an entirely new market: at IFA 2026 in Berlin the technology firm showed off the CameraJet, its first electric toothbrush – fitted with a tiny AI camera and a built-in water jet. The price, according to Dyson: around 499 US dollars.

Camera meets water jet

At the heart of the CameraJet sits a macro lens of roughly 100,000 pixels that captures up to 28 images per second while you brush. A machine-learning system Dyson calls “Gap Optical Targeting” analyses those images in real time, identifies gaps between the teeth and – within about 100 milliseconds, according to Dyson – fires a precise burst of mouthrinse exactly there. Brushing and water-flossing are meant to happen simultaneously.

Six years in development

The company says the project took six years, more than 470,000 dental images and around 661 engineers. The brush is sold as part of a “Dyson Dental System” that bundles a charging dock, travel case, toothpaste and mouthrinse. For pre-order, Dyson lists two colourways: Ceramic Ultra Blue and Ceramic Pink.

Premium price, open questions

At just under 500 dollars, the CameraJet sits well above mainstream models from Oral-B or Philips Sonicare. Early hands-on testers praised the surprisingly clear camera feed but noted the brush feels a little unwieldy for plain brushing, and that proprietary heads mean ongoing costs. The mix of an in-mouth camera and app connectivity is also likely to raise privacy questions.
