The DevOps platform GitLab has been released in version 19.3. The update brings agentic workflows in plain language, access to secrets at build-time and the ability to work through vulnerabilities in bulk.
AI agents take over routine tasks
With “agentic workflows,” processes can be described in natural language, which GitLab then executes automatically. The focus is on delegating recurring DevOps tasks to AI agents. Also new is access to secrets – such as credentials and keys – directly at build-time, meant to make pipelines more flexible and secure.
Clearing the security backlog
GitLab 19.3 makes it possible to work through vulnerabilities from the “backlog” in bulk. Especially with growing amounts of automatically generated code, this helps close security gaps faster.
What it means
With this release, GitLab continues its push to rebuild the classic DevOps platform for the age of agentic AI – a direct point of competition with GitHub and its Copilot features.
