At IFA 2026 in Berlin, LG adds a new control layer to its smart-home system: ThinQ Claw is a text- and chat-based AI agent that, according to LG, understands a user’s intent and context and then coordinates the relevant devices and services on its own. The agent makes its public debut in the company’s AI Home Zone.
How ThinQ Claw differs from ThinQ ON
The two names matter. ThinQ ON is the physical AI home hub – a connected speaker with a voice assistant that is Matter-certified and links devices over Wi-Fi or Thread. ThinQ Claw, by contrast, is not a device but a software agent integrated with ThinQ ON that you operate through a natural chat interface. Instead of rigid automation rules, users simply share their plans or current status.
Context over single commands
LG says ThinQ Claw interprets messages not as isolated commands but within the context of the user’s life. To do so it taps into calendars and other connected services and remembers preferences to refine its recommendations over time. LG cites examples such as preparing cooking appliances for guests, or adjusting air quality and temperature before someone arrives home.
Context and outlook
Technically, LG says ThinQ Claw is built on the “OpenClaw” concept and optimized for LG AI Home. The broader ecosystem includes Homey, the smart-home platform from Athom – acquired by LG in 2024 – which connects devices across brands. LG has not stated pricing, market launch or regions so far; at IFA 2026, ThinQ Claw is being shown as a demonstration for now.
