Synology ChatPlus Server 1.0.0 Enters Public Beta

Synology made ChatPlus Server 1.0.0 available as a public beta via the DSM Package Center on August 27, 2026. The completely redesigned collaboration platform replaces the previous Chat.

New features for teams

The overhauled interface introduces thread discussions, scheduled message sending, anonymous polls, code-snippet previews with syntax highlighting, and launching video meetings directly via Synology Meet. An enhanced admin console enables granular user permissions, retention policies, webhook configuration, and role-based access for local, LDAP and domain users.

Requirements and limitations

The requirements are at least DSM 7.3, Synology Meet 1.0.0, Synology Application Service 1.9.0, Node.js v22, and Universal Viewer 1.5.0 on compatible DiskStation, RackStation or FlashStation models. Before installation, the existing Chat service must be stopped; a downgrade is no longer possible after the upgrade.

Synology explicitly advises against deploying the beta in production environments. Currently a free license activation is required; future pricing has not yet been announced.
