Manufacturer Boox is expanding its lineup of E-Ink devices with three new models powered by Android 16. While the Note Air6 C and the Note Mini C are designed for note-taking and productivity thanks to color displays and stylus support, the compact Palma 3 with a grayscale screen targets readers on the go.
Note Air6 C and Note Mini C for Digital Notes in Color
The flagship BOOX Note Air6 C features a 10.3-inch Kaleido 3 color display. In monochrome mode, the screen offers a resolution of 1,860 × 2,480 pixels (300 ppi), while color content is displayed with 4,096 hues at 930 × 1,240 pixels (150 ppi). Weighing 430 grams, the tablet is just 5.8 millimeters thin and packs a 3,700 mAh battery. For pen input, it supports the optional Boox Pen 3 stylus with 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity. The manufacturer also offers a magnetic keyboard folio as an accessory, which connects via pogo pins and allows the tablet to be charged via an integrated USB-C port.
Those who prefer a smaller form factor can opt for the Note Mini C, a more portable alternative weighing 300 grams with a 3,150 mAh battery. The manufacturer’s documentation contains slightly conflicting specs regarding the display size: while the body copy mentions 8.52 inches, the spec sheet lists 8.25 inches. The resolution is 1,536 × 2,048 pixels (300 ppi monochrome, 150 ppi color). For handwritten sketches, it supports the magnetic InkSight stylus, which must also be purchased separately.
New Octa-Core Chip and Software Features
Both Note models are powered by Qualcomm’s Dragonwing 6690, whose eight Kryo cores clock at up to 2.9 GHz. The platform is paired with 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal flash storage, expandable by up to 2 TB via microSD cards. Boox Super Refresh (BSR) is designed to minimize screen refresh latency. According to the manufacturer, page turns are up to 40 percent faster than on the predecessor, the Note Air5 C, thanks to the new processor.
Android 16 serves as the operating system. The Note Air6 C runs Firmware 4.3, which introduces widgets, a dock, and faster app switching. New additions also include features such as “Dual Notes” for viewing two documents side by side, enhanced brush and lasso tools in “Calendar Memo,” and “Talk Insights” for AI-driven summaries of audio recordings. For wireless connectivity, both Note models support dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4 and 5 GHz) and Bluetooth 6.0. The Note Air6 C also adds USB-C with OTG support, dual speakers, and a fingerprint scanner embedded in the power button.
Palma 3: Compact Pocket-Sized Reader
The Palma 3 retains a smartphone form factor, measuring 78.0 × 159.0 × 7.8 millimeters and weighing 195 grams. Its Carta 1200 display measures 6.13 inches with a resolution of 824 × 1,648 pixels (300 ppi), but unlike the Note devices, it is limited to 16 levels of grayscale. Despite the compact design, it utilizes the same Dragonwing 6690 processor and 6 GB of RAM. Internal storage is twice as large as in the Note devices at 128 GB (also expandable via microSD). The built-in battery has a capacity of 3,950 mAh.
Pricing and Availability
The Note Air6 C is available now at a suggested retail price of 579.99 euros. Interestingly, Boox has set the exact same starting price of 579.99 euros for the smaller Note Mini C, though a release date has not yet been confirmed. A launch date has also not been announced for the Palma 3. The recommended retail price for the compact e-reader is 339.99 euros.
