Onyx has unveiled the Note Air6 C, the direct successor to its Note Air5 C color ePaper tablet. The new device is aimed at users looking to combine digital handwriting, document editing, and color content on an eye-friendly 10.3-inch (roughly 26-centimeter) display.
Noticeable Performance Boost and Smoother Display
Under the hood, the Note Air6 C is powered by an upgraded octa-core processor paired with 6 GB of RAM. According to the manufacturer, the system delivers roughly 40 percent more performance than its predecessor. This should be particularly noticeable through faster loading times for large documents and snappier page turns.
To reduce visual artifacts on the electronic paper display, Onyx incorporates its proprietary “BOOX Super Refresh” (BSR) technology. A new Smooth Mode is designed to minimize stuttering and typical ePaper ghosting—the lingering afterimages of previous screen content—while scrolling and using third-party apps.
Writing Feel, Lighting, and Software
The screen features a textured surface engineered to deliver a paper-like writing experience when paired with the Pen3 stylus. To accommodate varying ambient lighting conditions, Onyx has equipped the device with a dual-color front light that can be smoothly adjusted from cool white to warm white.
The tablet runs Android 16 with the Google Play Store preinstalled, granting access to a wide selection of standard apps. For document management, the onboard NeoReader app supports over 20 different file formats. The built-in notes app allows users to work with templates and introduces new features such as “Dual Notes” and “Talk Insights” for transcribing and summarizing meetings.
Specs, Pricing, and Market Placement
Hardware features include a fingerprint sensor integrated into the power button for biometric unlocking, a microSD card slot for expandable storage, and low-latency modern wireless connectivity. Optional accessories include a keyboard cover and the BOOX Tappy page-turner. The tablet is priced at 580 euros.
For prospective buyers, the Note Air6 C bridges the gap between dedicated e-readers and full-featured multimedia tablets. Thanks to the open Play Store and Android 16, the device offers far greater flexibility than closed reading platforms. However, given the inherent response-time limits of display technology, its primary use case remains firmly focused on text- and handwriting-heavy workflows, such as reading academic papers, annotating, and taking notes.
