Kia is expanding its commercial electric vehicle lineup, unveiling the new PV7 at IAA Transportation 2026 in Hanover. The electric van is aimed at tradespeople, logistics providers, and passenger services, offering a range of up to 460 kilometers.
Modular Platform and High Charging Speeds
Positioned above the smaller PV5, the PV7 is based on the PBV (Platform Beyond Vehicle) platform, a commercial-vehicle-adapted variant of the E-GMP.S architecture known from the Kia EV6. Thanks to an 800-volt system, the van supports charging speeds of up to 350 kW at compatible fast-charging stations, significantly cutting down downtime during the workday. In addition, an integrated Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) function allows external power tools and electrical equipment to be operated directly via AC power from the vehicle’s battery.
Kia is planning two battery sizes with capacities of 71.5 kWh and 96.2 kWh. In the revealed specifications, the front-wheel-drive configuration produces up to 200 kW and 420 Nm of torque. An all-wheel-drive variant is also slated to become available down the road.
Cargo Van or Passenger Shuttle: Dimensions and Payload
The vehicle will be offered as a panel van (Cargo) and as a minibus (Passenger). In the Cargo Long specification, the PV7 measures exactly 5,350 millimeters in length, 1,995 millimeters in width, and 1,990 millimeters in height, with a wheelbase of 3,500 millimeters. According to the manufacturer, maximum payload is 1,165 kilograms for the long version and up to 1,200 kilograms for the more compact model. A low loading sill is designed to ease the loading and unloading of cargo. Cabins will be available with two or three seats.
For passenger transport, Kia offers versions with five, seven, or nine seats. The seven-seat variant features the “Long Rail Easy Remove Seat System,” allowing seats to slide flexibly along guide rails or be removed entirely when needed.
Digital Helpers and Fleet Integration
Standard and safety equipment includes modern driver assistance systems such as adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, and parking sensors. For commercial customers, the carmaker provides the “Kia Business Solutions Portal,” enabling fleet operators to manage vehicle logistics, including charging schedules and maintenance intervals.
The electrification of commercial transport continues to gain momentum. Kia has not yet commented on market launch timing or pricing for the PV7. Commercial buyers will need to await official price lists to assess its cost efficiency compared to existing commercial van fleets.
