How the electricity cost calculator works
The calculator derives consumption in kilowatt-hours and the resulting cost from power, operating hours and electricity price – per day, month and year. Ideal for checking what a homelab server, an air conditioner or a ceiling fan really costs in continuous operation.
- Power (watts): The device’s power draw. For servers use the real average load, not the power-supply rating.
- Operation (hrs/day): Enter 24 for a 24/7 server; for occasional devices, their actual runtime.
- Price: Preset to €0.35/kWh – adjust it to your tariff.
- Number of devices: Scales identical devices (e.g. several nodes) directly.
Conversion: month = daily value × 30.44 (average), year = daily value × 365. Standby draw is not included, so the real annual figure can be slightly higher for devices with a standby mode.
