How the device gets into Home Assistant
- official ZHA – with a Zigbee coordinator and the ZHA integration; the quirk the device needs is part of ZHA.
- official Philips Hue Bridge – paired with the Hue Bridge; the Hue integration brings its lights, switches and sensors into Home Assistant.
- add-on Zigbee2MQTT – Zigbee2MQTT runs as an add-on and passes the device on to Home Assistant over MQTT.
Known problems and fixes
Open problems
- open The Hue Dimmer v2 has a ~1-second delay on every button press, making dimming feel sluggish. No fix is proposed yet, but this issue highlights the problem.
Changes proposed for ZHA
- pull request Philips Hue Dimmer v2 sends delayed SHORT_PRESS events, causing unresponsive dimming. The proposed change would make these events trigger immediately for smoother control.
