A blueprint is a ready-made automation or script: you import it once, pick your own devices and settings, and Home Assistant does the rest – a light that follows motion, a notification when the washing machine is done. Here you find the blueprints people share in the Home Assistant forum, with what each one needs and a link to import it straight into your Home Assistant.

Using a blueprint

  1. "Import" opens your own Home Assistant and shows the blueprint before anything is saved.
  2. Under Settings → Automations & scenes → Blueprints, choose "Create automation" (or script) from it.
  3. Pick your devices and settings, save – done. Changes to the blueprint later reach every automation made from it after you import it again.

Blueprints are shared by the community and not reviewed by the Home Assistant team. Read what an automation does before you use it, especially one that unlocks doors or switches heating.
