How this rating comes about
Home Assistant calculates the rating itself: every add-on starts at 5, and each right it asks for or gives up moves the number. The same calculation runs here, on the configuration the add-on ships.
| Starting value of every add-on | 5 |
|---|---|
| AppArmor switched off | -1 |
| Reached through Ingress, so no port of its own | +2 |
| Asks for far reaching rights (NET_ADMIN, SYS_ADMIN, SYS_RAWIO) | -1 |
| May command the Supervisor (role: manager) | -1 |
| Shares the network of the host | -1 |
| Reaches the Docker API – that alone sets the rating to 1 | – |
| Result | 1 / 8 |
A high number does not mean the add-on is good, and a low one does not mean it is dangerous – a backup add-on has to reach far into the system to do its job. The number says how much it is allowed to do, and the list above says what exactly.

- Access to the Docker API
- Uses the host network
