This upcoming increase primarily affects older Apple devices, including the iPhone 6s, the iPhone 6s Plus, the first-generation iPhone SE, as well as the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. Anyone who does not install an update by the end of November will lose access to the messenger.<\/p>\n<h2>No Need to Replace Older Devices<\/h2>\n<p>Unlike previous adjustments, the new requirement does not spell the end of the line for the affected devices. In 2025, WhatsApp raised the minimum requirement to iOS 15.1, which completely cut off models such as the iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, and iPhone 6 Plus, as they were no longer eligible for newer software versions.<\/p>\n<p>However, the devices affected this time\u2014from the iPhone 6s to the iPad mini 4\u2014can all be updated to iOS 15.8.8 or iPadOS 15.8.8. Purchasing a new device is therefore not required to keep using the messenger.<\/p>\n<h2>What Owners of Older Devices Should Do Now<\/h2>\n<p>Affected users should check which software version is currently installed by going to <em>General &gt; About<\/em> in their Apple device&#8217;s system settings.
