G. Santos, gemeinsam mit Mohammad H. Badarneh und PeiYu Cai vom Institute for Condensed Matter Physics and Complex Systems der University of Edinburgh, wendet die sogenannte Optimale-Steuerungs-Theorie (OCT) auf magnetische Speicher an. Statt Bits mit standardisierten Magnetfeld-Impulsen zu kippen, berechnet das Verfahren die ideale Form eines Pulses, der die Magnetisierung in wenigen Pikosekunden gezielt und zuverl\u00e4ssig umdreht. Die erreichbaren Werte liegen im Femtojoule-Bereich und damit auf Augenh\u00f6he mit oder unter stromgetriebenen Verfahren wie STT- und SOT-MRAM.
