With the purchase, Stripe secures a central routing layer between applications and AI models.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">OpenRouter sees itself as a kind of &#8220;Stripe for AI&#8221;: a single access point through which developers can reach hundreds of AI models and switch flexibly between them. dollars. Initial talks reportedly priced the deal near 10 billion dollars; falling model prices in the summer of 2026, however, pushed the final figure down by roughly 30 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Stripe was already OpenRouter&#8217;s payment processor \u2013 the existing partnership now turns into ownership of the routing layer.
