Both are tri-band including 6 GHz and ship with a 10 GbE uplink &ndash; the difference lies mainly in form factor and mounting location. And yes: both get noticeably warm in operation. This guide clarifies the technical differences and the community&#8217;s most common question about heat.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Models at a Glance<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the datasheets, both access points are WiFi 7 devices (802.11be) with three bands (2.4 \/ 5 \/ 6 GHz) and six spatial streams. Their radio figures are practically identical &ndash; what separates them is the enclosure and the intended use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">UniFi U7 Pro XG<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The classic round access-point puck (roughly 206 mm diameter, 32.5 mm tall). It is designed for ceiling mounting but can also be placed on a wall using the included Lite Mount. From above it covers large, open rooms evenly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">UniFi U7 Pro XG Wall<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A flat, rectangular enclosure (approx. 155 x 108 x 33.5 mm) for wall mounting &ndash; for example in a hallway, stairwell or targeted at a single room. The antennas radiate from the wall into the room. Both have an RJ45 uplink at 1\/2.5\/5\/10 GbE, are powered via PoE+ (802.3at) and draw up to 22 W per the datasheet. Both are rated for around 140 m&sup2; and 300+ concurrent clients. The practical difference is the form factor &ndash; and therefore where and how the RF field sits in the house. So a surface that gets warm to hot under sustained load is normal, not a fault. You only need to provide a 10 GbE port if you actually want to exceed 2.5 Gbps &ndash; otherwise a 2.5G backhaul is enough.
